Winco’s 3250 Steel Replica and 1450S Hung Replica windows anchor a façade steeped in history
Established in 1619, the General Assembly of Virginia is the oldest continually meeting legislative body in the United States. In 2024, members gathered for the first time in a stylish new building. That new structure is composed of two historic facades remaining from the Life Insurance Company of Virginia building built in 1912 that had been restored and integrated into the overall design of the new building.
As experts in historic window restoration, Winco played a pivotal role in reproducing the windows in the old façade with a customized version of our 3250 Steel Replica and 1450S Hung Replica window series. The aluminum window frames feature a 70% Kynar Classic II Lexus Bronze finish that exactly matches the original, patinated copper-clad spandrels still in place on the historic façade. The dark bronze trim of the new windows enhances the look of the new 14-story, 414,000 square-foot limestone building occupying a full block of the northwest corner of Richmond’s Capitol Square.
